My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult

August 31, 2006

Finished 08/06 ****

This was very thought-provoking. I liked the way the chapters were written from different characters’ perspectives, so you can see things from different points of view.

Fruitstock

On the 6th of August Mr Beans and I met Sara at a festival organised by the people at innocent.

It was great fun despite the horribly hot weather and I love everything that innocent do, as well as their ethics. I’d probably like to work for them, if they weren’t based in London, although as Sara said their workforce all seemed to be very “young and trendy”- not a hugely eclectic employee base

Good food, fabulous drink, and very nice to see Sara :o)

First impressions

August 1, 2006

WordPress seems pretty good- I’ve been wanting to make a record of all the books and films I’ve sampled and the categories are helpful for that.

I’m blogging about blogging…odd…

War of the Worlds

Rented 07/06 ***

This was impressive, but the kids were just a bit too annoying.

Hitch

Rented 07/06 *****

This is the second time I’ve seen this and I love it. I guess it’s a fairly regular chick-flick, but it makes me really happy- the feel-good factor is big.

Walk the Line

Rented 07/06 ***

This was a good film, I enjoyed it, I just wouldn’t bother watching it again.

Robots

Rented 07/06 ****

We really enjoyed this animated movie. Ok, so it’s a kids’ film, but it’s very funny and I loved all the gadgets :o)

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest

August 1, 2006

Seen 29/07/06 ***

I didn’t enjoy part 2 of the trilogy as much as the first one. It was laugh-out-loud funny in places, but I thought the storyline was a bit disjointed. Also, since there’s another chapter to come, the ending wasn’t very conclusive, something which I discovered annoys me a lot!

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

This is a brilliant book. Really gripping storyline, a bit of everything and I learned about events in Afghanistan over the last few decades.

Take two

August 1, 2006

Ok, so I tried blogger and maybe I didn’t give it a fair go, but I wasn’t actually that keen. I found myself wanting to alter so many things about the layout, and I wasn’t able to categorise my posts. WordPress, recommended by Mr Beans has tickled my fancy a lot more at first glance. I can categorise posts, the default layout is more pleasing and I really like being able to preview a post on the same page I’m composing it. I was even able to import all my previous posts :o)
